What is “The Secret Gorge”?
“The Secret Gorge” is a unique dining & wine tasting experience in Rethymno of Crete, offering the finest Greek wines and authentic Cretan dishes. Our restaurant, limited to 12 seats each night, is set on a stone-built balcony hanging from the side of a Cretan gorge.
Where are you located?
We are located in Rethymno, Crete, Greece. Our exact location is 3rd Klm. National Road, Rethymno 741 50.
How can I make a reservation? Are they required?
Yes reservations / bookings are required. You can book for 1-12 guests. Bookings can be made directly on our website or through contacting us.
What hours do guests attend the restaurant?
We operate on a reservation-only basis with seatings available in the evening, starting at 20:30 every Mon, Wed, Fri and having a duration of ~3 hours.
Can we book private, the whole space to ourselves?
For private dining & wine tasting inquiries you will need to contact us. We can arrange it any day of the week.
We want to host a small event at your space (birthday, family gathering, wedding anniversary, wedding proposal etc.) Is that possible?
We can arrange anything in our picturesque location for up to 16 guests. Contact us for any inquiries.
Can I book last minute?
For last minute bookings (0-3 hours before the event) please call us at +30 6971979765 either by call or WhatsApp.
What is your policy on children?
We love children but in order to maintain a calm and serene dining atmosphere, we do not allow small children during our wine tasting. 14+ book as adults with full menu and any beverages they might want. However, if you book a private event, children of any age are welcome to join!
Will we wine & dine with strangers?
Yes. Our 12 seat restaurant offers a dining experience like no other. You will get to connect with Crete visitors from all around the world. If you are hesitant about joining an exclusive evening with other people, you can read past travellers experiences!
Wine Tasting & Dining
Is the experience both a wine tasting and dining? Is everything included in the price?
Everything is included in the price. You will get served 8 bottles of renowned wine labels from all over Greece & 8 traditional Cretan dishes that are made on the spot.
What type of cuisine do you serve?
We serve authentic Cretan dishes, made with locally sourced organic ingredients and traditional recipes. Our lamb is pasture raised & grass-fed.
Will this be a “tasting” or are we served actual portions?
At “The Secret Gorge”, we serve generous portions of both wine & food that will more than satisfy your appetite. Our dishes are crafted to give you a true taste of Cretan gastronomy. We promise you won’t be able to eat & drink everything!

Is there parking available?
Yes, we have free parking available for our guests.
Do you offer transportation services?
We can arrange transportation services for our guests upon request. Please let us know if you require transportation. Costs vary depending on your location.
